How to Sew on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi Patches There is a specific way to sew on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi patches that must be done in order to prevent the merrowed border from tearing off the edges of your patch. Unlike most patch applications, these Gi patches will be under constant abuse. BJJ guard work is the cause of the problems encountered. Just imagine what will happen if your patch is only sewn on by the affixed merrowed border. All your weight (and possibly your opponents) will be on the patch while it is yanked and pulled in all different directions.
